Cervinia is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps and provides an excellent, snow sure base for an early, mid or late season holiday. At an altitude of 2,050m, it is set in a spectacular location, overlooked by the magnificent Matterhorn (Cervino).
Cervinia offers a fabulous range of well groomed pistes, a high altitude snow park, easily accessible off piste descents, heli ski and plenty of other leisure facilities including a natural ice rink and public swimming pool.
Accommodation is of a high standard and Cervinia’s compact resort centre has a lively cosmopolitan feel. The centre is mainly pedestrianised and pleasant to stroll in, with some good shops, bars, pizzerias and restaurants.
Cervinia’s ski area is easy to navigate and the long, wide, well groomed pistes in superb scenery make for a very pleasant and relaxing ski experience. There is also plenty of sunshine due to the open nature of the valley.
The extensive ski area connects Cervinia with Valtournenche, and Zermatt in Switzerland. There are some 350km of piste in the area as a whole, and 130km in Cervinia and Valtournenche alone.
The Italian Area Lift Pass covers all the lifts in Cervinia and Valtournenche, and day extensions can be purchased separately for skiing in Zermatt.
To have unlimited access to Zermatt you should purchase the International Lift Pass.
Beginners will be happy on the sunny nursery slopes served by the centrally located Cretaz lifts, and there are plenty of easy blue runs to progress on to.
Cervinia has a huge number of varied red runs for intermediate skiers including the superb 10km descent from Plateau Rosà.
More advanced skiers will enjoy the resorts black runs which include some steep descents and mogul fields. Neighbouring Zermatt also has plenty to offer the more experienced skier with some steep runs under the Furi cable car.
