The three main Monterosa resorts of Alagna, Gressoney and Champoluc are connected by a modern lift system which covers some 180km of piste.
Surrounded by the awesome peaks of the Monterosa chain, the environment is natural and unspoiled with minimal resort development.
Accommodation is of a high standard and Alagna, though quiet and traditional, offers a good selection of informal bars, restaurants and pizzerias.
There are also plenty of excellent places to meet and eat on the mountain.
The Monterosa ski area caters well for all levels of skier and boarder. The pistes are long and well groomed, and the scenery is spectacular.
Much of the terrain remains undeveloped and is perfect for off- piste skiing. The whole of the Monterosa area has much to offer deep snow enthusiasts of all levels but Alagna is legendary for it's fabulous off piste itineraries. Ski touring with skins and heli ski excursions are easily organsied.
Good cross country skiing is available on trails between Alagna and the neighbouring village of Riva Val Dobbia, which is a couple of kilometers from central Alagna.
