Alagna Col d'Olen
No longer available in 2012 due to a fire in December
At an altitude of 2,880m the Rifugio Guglielmina is the highest hotel in Europe. Located on the Col d’Olen between Alagna and Gressoney, the surrounding views are simply stunning.
The Guglielmina offers traditional mountain hospitality and a cosy atmosphere, warmed by wood burning stoves. Originally inaugurated in 1878, the Rifugio Guglielmina has been owned by the same family for generations. Following complete renovation and a long period of closure, it reopened in 1993.
Combined with a stay in Alagna, a couple of nights high up on the mountain, will offer a unique experience. The Guglielmina is also ideally located for off piste and heli ski excursions.
After a totally relaxing evening, excellent home cooked food and a glass of fine wine from the well stocked cellars, you will be first on to the pistes in the morning!
The bedrooms are warm and comfortably furnished, but do not have en-suite facilities.
The hotel is accessed on foot or skis from the top of the ski lifts, and a luggage service is available.
