Cogne and the Gran Paradiso National Park
Cogne is a wonderfully scenic alpine village.
On the border of the spectacular Gran Paradiso National Park, it is an ideal base for walkers, allowing easy access to some of the areas most beautiful scenery and wild flowers. You may choose to relax around the village, take a stroll up the Val Nontey or to the Lillaz waterfalls, or try an altogether more challenging walk with the intention of reaching your first 4000m peak. There are numerous walks for all tastes.
The hotels of Cogne provide a high standard of service and hospitality, many of them having been in the same families for generations. The village also boasts many excellent restaurants.

Piedmont – Monferrato and the Langhe
Despite its many treasures, Piedmont is still relatively undiscovered by foreign visitors. Lovers of good food and wine may well have heard about this rich and fertile region that produces some of Italy’s finest food and wines and houses many of its best restaurants, but you may not realise what a huge variety of cultural and recreational opportunities also exist. Charming hill top towns with local festivals, castles and ancient monasteries all exist in abundance, and the leisurely walks between the towns or amongst the vines offer exceptional views of the surrounding area and beyond in clear weather, to the snow topped Alps.
Good food is guaranteed and the area boasts numerous Michelin starred restaurants. The exceptional local wines include Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera.

Liguria
Liguria has a charming and varied coastline with crystal clear blue seas, pebbly beaches, small coves and many traditional fishing villages with huddles of pastel coloured houses.
The mountain back drop provides wonderful scenery and there is also ample opportunity for walking, as Liguria boasts some of Europe’s finest coastal foot paths.
The area is well known for its pesto, delicious seafood and white wines.

Turin and Pisa
You may wish to stay a night or two in your town of arrival/departure. Turin and Pisa are both well worth a visit.
Asti
Asti is a delightful market town in Piedmont. September is a particularly interesting month to visit, as there are many local festivals as well as the Palio horse race. (Early booking is essential)
Courmayeur
Courmayeur is a wonderful mountain town with Mont Blanc as a back drop! If you’re driving from the UK, it is conveniently placed for a stop over and has many attractions. Leisurely walks in the unspoiled valleys of Val Veny and Val Ferret provide stunning views over the rocky south face of Mont Blanc, the glaciers and the spectacular peaks of Grandes Jorasses and Aiguille Noir.
During the summer months a wonderful 90 minute cable car ride will take you over the Mont Blanc Massif itself. Choose a clear day to marvel at the outstanding views.
