The Ski Resorts of the Aosta Valley
Situated in the North West of Italy, the Aosta Valley offers a great selection of snow sure resorts with extensive and varied ski areas.
From enchanting mountain villages with magnificent scenery and high altitude skiing, to luxury hotels with fabulous spas and fine dining; from great value, family fun weeks, to quick and easy short ski breaks with friends, the Aosta Valley has something for everyone:
Alagna is a charming and traditional Alpine village with huge off piste and free ride potential. The furthest east of the 3 ski resorts which make up the extensive Monterosa ski area, Alagna is lift linked to both Champoluc and Gressoney.
Overlooked by the mighty Matterhorn, Cervinia is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps and has a long ski season. Lift linked to Zermatt in Switzerland, the combined ski area offers some 350km of sensational, high altitude skiing.
Champoluc is an un-spoiled mountain village with several excellent, family run hotels. One of the 3 ski resorts which make up the Monterosa ski area, Champoluc is an intermediate’s paradise with an abundance of long, exhilarating red runs and fabulous scenery.
Cogne is a winter wonderland with some exceptional hotels. Winter sports on offer include cross country skiing, downhill skiing with an excellent children’s ski/play area, and cleared walking routes, all within the environs of the wonderful Gran Paradiso National Park.
Courmayeur needs little introduction to the keen skier and mountain enthusiast. Its superb location at the foot of Mont Blanc ensures wonderful skiing in spectacular scenery, and a holiday in this chic mountain town has plenty to offer the skier and non skier alike.
Surrounded by the awesome peaks of the Monterosa chain, the environment is natural and un-spoiled, with historic village centres and minimum resort development. Centrally located within the Monterosa ski area, Gressoney Staffal and La Trinité are lift linked to the ski resorts of Champoluc and Alagna.
Lift linked to La Rosiere in France, La Thuile offers an extensive, snow sure ski area with a full range of pisted runs and breathtaking mountain views. The village of La Thuile has a lovely historic centre and this good value ski resort also offers some excellent hotels and restaurants.
Pila is an affordable ski resort with an enviable snow record and stunning views across the Italian Alps towards France and Switzerland. The wide, sunny slopes and the compact network of mainly long blue and red runs make Pila an ideal base for families and mixed ability ski groups.
